Recycled Snowflake Number 2...

Here's the second card using a snowflake from one of the shop bought cards I was sent this Christmas.  You can see the original card and my first card in the post below. 

This time, with the influence of the challenge at Fab's Christmas Challenge, I decided to do a tall slim card and use the snowflake and it's backing.  I did cut out a nestie scalloped square to mat the topper on to and sandwich the acetate.

Glitzy border peel offs and simple sentiments seperated by snowflakes with added gemstones finish the card off.

Yeah another card for my Christmas box and the challenges at...

• Fab's Big Christmas Card Challenge - tall, slim and maybe icy colours (yeah I covered both options) 
• Creatalicious Challenges - old (the snowflake is recycled), new (acetate), blue (snowflake) and torn (hmmm pushing my luck here but I did drop the card and one of the arms of the snowflake needed repairs!)
• ABC Challenge - layering - (layering plays a big part on acetate cards as you have to ensure that you sandwich the DST between the layers using both sides of the acetate so that no DST shows)
• Rainbow Lady's Challenge - Recycling

Yeah it's Bah! Humbug! Day...

I'm just so excited that I can hardly type - at long last it's January 8th and the start of the very first challenge at Bah! Humbug!

If you haven't already guessed from the clues I've been leaving here, there and everywhere the theme for our first week is recycling.  We want crafters to try to use something from one of the shopbought (I would never ever take a handmade card apart - far too precious) cards they received at Christmas.  It could also be some wrapping paper that didn't get crumpled or maybe some gorgeous ribbon from around those Thorton's choccies.  There's loads of really wow stuff out there that can be put to good use in our crafting.

This is the card I chose to recycle.  A really beautiful one by the Simon Elvin company.  To be truthful as soon as I saw it I sort of 'wanted' the snowflakes.  Not card or chipboard they seem to be made out of a kind of polystyrene or something similar.  Anyway whatever they are made out of they are lush and the other two will be appearing on other cards quite soon.

For the main image on my recycled card I've used my favourite snowmen digi by Whimsy Doodles - I just love these two characters and the sentiment that accompanies them, which I'm going to use inside the card.

More black and white...

My black and white style card from yesterday's posting seems to have developed into a collection!

When I printed the silhouette lady from my new Debbie Moore CD I actually printed a whole sheet of silhouette profiles of different ladies.  I don't often do this due to the cost of ink, but I must say it was really good fun to make a little collection of cards with the same colour scheme and papers and I still have loads of silhouettes left too.

I'm really proud of myself actually as I managed to make all 5 cards using only one A4 sheet of the black with white flowers and one sheet of the white with black flowers paper by Kanban.  Not like me to be so economical!!

I think having now made a set of these my next job will be to make a matching box as I have a friend who is not a card maker herself, but would appreciate these to use as notelets and it is her birthday coming up soon.
