Bah! Humbug! day... Silhouettes...

Friday again and of course it's Bah! Humbug! day, which goes perfectly with my new Blog name 'Just for Fun'.  Bah! Humbug! is definitely fun to be a part of and as an added bonus I get to hop around blog land looking at gorgeous entries from all our members.  Just so much talent out there it's unbelievable.  I wonder what fabbie creations everyone will enter for this week's challenge which is 'silhouettes'.
The card I've created for our silhouette theme has an image of a 1930s (?) couple choosing a Christmas tree at the edge of the forest.  I love this stamp - it's an oldie, but goldie.  I can't actually remember where it came from.
Ingredients and method...
  • image stamped on to photo card using Archival black ink pad.  Glitter added to give a touch of frost effect.
  • black embossed frame created using Cuttlebug embossing folder with central section cut out.  The frame was then mounted on to silver mirri card (also with apperture already cut out) before being attached with foam tape on top of image.  Clear diamond gems added to each corner snowflake.
  • Black plain card for base and black ribbed card to add texture to the background for the framed image.
  • Black organza ribbon and black peel offs along black central border
  • Tags cut using Cuttlebug tiny tags die with silver sentiment peel off added.
Additional Challenges...
  • Sketch and Stash - I started with their fantastic sketch, but kinda ran out of space for the snowflake corners - sorry guys! (new stash is Archival ink pad and unused is my stamp)
  • Crafty Creations - Favourite stamp (hmmmmm this has got to be one of my favourites as I must have had it ages and still love it.
  • Tanda Teaser - Extra Large - my card is 8" x 8"
  • The ABC challenge - Vintage - my image is a vintage one so hope this counts
  • Magical Crafts - Black, white and one more (my extra is silver)
Have a fabulous weekend everyone.  Do pop over to Bah! Humbug! to see what Max, Irene and our Guest Designer Steph have been up to and hopefully join in our challenge too.  We'd love to see your work.

New blog name...

Well I suppose some might notice that I've changed the name of my blog - yet again!!  I was never really happy with either of my previous two names - it was a case of all the best names had gone!  However, there I was crafting away this morning and it came to me in a flash ...

'Just for fun' - perfect!  Well I think so!  I'm not designing cards for specific companies anymore or even promoting them on a challenge blog.  I'm crafting for fun - just pure fun and it's great.

I think this name will last - hopefully as long as my blog does.

Lisa's RAK card ...

I am a great fan of Pollycraft images and follow both the challenge blog and Paula's blog so when I read her post yesterday about 'Lisa's RAK I just had to go and investigate.
This is what Lisa has to say...

'I am having a special event for my sister Jayme. She is in her early 50's and has terminal lung cancer. To make it worse, her sweet dachshund Molly passed away a couple weeks ago. Today we learned her cancer has spread to several other areas and her time is running out. I am asking for all my card making friends to send her a fun card...not really get well cards obviously, but something pretty or funny that will make her smile. She is a frog collector so frog cards would be awesome!'

How can anyone resist making and sending a card after reading that?  Another bonus is that there are prizes to be won, which is great I know, but the most important thing is the chance to do something for someone to bring a smile.
Please visit Lisa's blog to read more and hopefully join in.
Paula has provided a fabulous frog image (FREE) here, but I decided to use my Penny Black frog so that Jayne didn't get too many of the same image on her cards.

To create my card I used another of the great sketches at Sweet Sketch Wednesday.  Just love their work.

My card is also for the challenges at Penny Black where the theme is 'Lots of Dots'.
Have a fabulous day everyone.

UPDATE...

Denise is also offering a great free frog digi HERE  so no excuses get those cards made!

Fund raising - the first of many cards - I hope...

Sooooooooooooo hot here at the moment that crafting is not an easy task, but if I don't do a little creating each day I get in a real old strop with myself so I got up really early this morning and did some crafting before the sun made it really difficult.  Yes I know it would have been a good time to do the ironing but...
We are fund raising big time at work (Mencap) and one of the big events is a Summer Fair on the 19th June at Rowan House in Rotherham.  I took loads of cards in last week that were in my spares box, but I want to make some new ones especially for the event too.
Last year I saw a fabulous bargain at Tesco.  They had reduced packs containing 4 football puzzle games (the kind where you have to get the steel ball into the middle) to only 25p.  Never one to miss a bargain and with fundraising events in mind I bought a carrier bag full.  Hmmm seeing as I hate doing the same card twice I may live to regret this!
Anyway here is my first card.  I printed the striped paper (designed by me using Serif) onto card and then layered everything up using a scalloped Nestie as a backdrop for the football game.  The stamped sentiment is from a set I bought years ago by The Stamp Man.
Hmmmmmmmmm now to do the blue version!!  Plus the other 30 or so still in the carrier bag - ouch what have I started?
Luckily my card is also perfect for the challenges at...

Have a sunny day everyone.
