Hunky Dory ....

Last year I bought a huge kit from Create and Craft and I think I will still be using it in four years time.  Fabulous images and card, but oh my what a lot of it!  Anyway I had a lot of cards to make for a friend of my daughter so it did come in very handy for making some large special cards with impact or at least I hope the recipient thinks they have impact.

This one is gatefold card - I hate doing these but had some card blanks that needed using so forced myself to use a few.  Trouble is with Hunky Dory it's not cheap so sadly this card with it's three sheets of Hunky Dory plus mirri card etc cost more to make than I charged for it - silly me - good job I enjoy creating stuff!  

As you can see I really went the extra mile on this and finished the inside to match the outer one.  My halo is shining LOL!

The sentiments were done using Britannia word dies and stuck on using Stick it - I only hope they stay in place as I kept having to press them down firmly.  Yet another craft product that doesn't do all it says on the tin!

Christmas Beasties...

Oh my I've been so busy crafting this week in amongst hospital visits - making Christmas crackers with the residents at the nursing home and a thousand other things that I haven't had time for very much blogging at all.  
However, today is My Time to Craft day and a new challenge!  This time we are thinking about 'Christmas Animals'.  A nice easy one as animals feature on so many Christmas images.
For my card I've used a Hunky Dory set of polar bear images and backing card.  I've used loads of their stuff this week as I really needed to get a lot of cards done fast and as much as I love colouring and stamping etc it's a lot quicker when that part is done for you.

A dragon for Christmas...

Here is my card for our present challenge of Anything Goes with a sentiment at Aud Sentiments - my last one as in the new year I'm moving on from the team.  It's been great working with some really talented lovely people, but I really want to concentrate on my scrapbooking more.  I will miss them all.
Anyway how cute is this guy - he is called Flamesnort and is available from Lacey Sunshine stamps. Just a cute character in his way too big Santa Hat.  I love him.

Coloured with Spectrum Noir pencils and mat and layered onto a stepper card base with a computer generated sentiment.

I would have entered some more challenges but my silly laptop is playing up big time and keeps loosing pages altogether.
Grrr - hope Santa thinks I've been good and brings me a new one.

Let it snow - let it snow...

BUT ONLY ON CHRISTMAS CARDS!

Thank goodness I got back from Whitby last night as I dread to think how cold it will be on those cliff tops today.  Beautiful harbour though and the abbey on the cliff is just so dramatic.  A great place to spend some time in good weather or with plenty of thermals on.

Well onto our new challenge at My Time to Craft  which you have probably guessed is all about snow.  The DT have done some fabulous samples - do check out my team mates work and also we would love to see your snow themed projects too.

I got a little carried away with the snow flakes and created not one but two stepper cards.  I really love this stepper card die lent to me by a friend some weeks ago.  I have returned now and really need to buy my own.

Both my cards are topped off with an image from a sheet of Penny Black Stickeroos I've had for simply years, but I do love them and it's great to see them finally on a card.  The sentiment was computer generated and then mounted onto the card.  Extra snowflakes and a die cut frame finish both cards.

Happy Halloween...

Not long now to my Halloween party and I'm busy making lots of decorations and party items to make it a special time for both the grown ups and the little ones. 
I've found a new to me company who do the most amazing cut files for the Silhouette and other machines.  Check out Dreaming Tree  - amazing stuff.  This box card was so easy to make and it is really good sized.  Inside is a little battery candle which in real life gives it a really spooky glow.  The skeleton and ghost were stickers from my stash, but all the other items were included in the cut file. The sentiment was stamped using a Penny Black stamp that I really love.  Penny Black even make sentiment stamps that stand the test of time - I love that company.  The box was such fun to make and it looks fab on my mantel shelf with two pumpkin tea light holders and a banner made using a cut file from the Silhouette store.

Beatle Mania...

at My Time to Craft this week!   Our new challenge is anything with a touch of The Beatles - a great theme with lots of room for thinking outside the box too.
My card is one I created for my son-in-law who is very into music.  I'm hoping he will love this card with it's personalised guitar.

Yep our theme at Aud Sentiments this week is Halloween and my team mates have done some stunning work.  Do pop over and check it out and of course join in if you can.

My contribution is a Halloween invitation to a party I'm having for my Grandchildren - I can't wait - think there will be a lot of Halloween projects on my blog over the next couple of weeks.

I made the invitation using a digi kit which I think was from Daisytrail, but to be truthful I have so many kits now that sometime I use them and then can't find them again - really need to have a sort out.  This is the inside of the card.

Hope posting this doesn't lead to hundreds of gate crashers - maybe I should buy more candy - LOL!

Autumn Days...

Just finished this card for my daughter to give Gran next week.  Love autumn colours and I happen to have a huge pack of Hunky Dory Autumn themed decoupage stuff so was able to quickly knock up this card which is also for our new Autumn themed challenge at My Time to Craft.

Hot Chocolate...

Don't miss the Christmas themed challenge at Aud Sentiments this week.  Get out your glitter and start those wonderful Christmas cards and projects.

My little gift - which isn't finished as it needs marshmallows and other treats in to complete it - was cut out on my Silhouette machine and then a cute digi called Hot Chocolate by Stitchy Bear Stamps was coloured and added to the front.
My intention is to make a few of these for my Grandson to give his teachers at Christmas.  Another good plan that may not happen till Christmas Eve!

The Red Queen...

Our theme at My Time to Craft this time is Alice in Wonderland.  I love this theme as there are such wild and wacky stamps out there to use and even though I have quite a few they all tempt me big time.
The stamp I've used today is by Penny Black - oh my what a beauty?  The background paper is from a digi kit and the die cuts hearts from an old die by Spellbinders.
My card is also for the challenge at Penny Black and more where anything goes but Penny Black is best - LOL.

Make it sparkle...

Another Christmas card - oh my I'm going to have more cards than friends this year!  I do love making Christmas things though.  A chance to bring out the glitter and so many gorgeous images. 

This card came into being as I wanted to use the bits left after cutting something out on my Silhouette machine.  They were quite small bits really so not much scope although as you can see from the photo below I managed to mat and layer my image on a scrap with a hole in the middle.  LOL.  After cutting out the pine branches there was very little left and that can go in my grandson's scrap box.

I love my Silhouette machine!

It's just so much fun making vinyl stickers for stuff.  This is a special request label for the bins and recycling box at my daughter's new house.  The cut file was from the Silhouette Store and I added the house number.  Now my other daughter wants ones with dinosaurs on - oh my this is going to be fun.
Haven't decided what to have on my bin yet - maybe butterflies and flowers - will have to think about it.

Oldie but Goldie..,

Our challenge this time at Aud Sentiments is anything goes as long as you add a sentiment.  Oh my you can't get easier than that one and so far we've had some stunning entries.  There is a great prize on offer from Great Impressions who do some fabulous stamps so it's really well worth having a go if you have time.
Does anyone else buy digi stamps (and masses of other stash) and then just not get round to using it? I do and even more so when I was working and money rich and time poor.  Now I'm just short of both sadly!
Any hows I've just discovered an amazing challenge where you are encouraged to dig out the 'Never Before Used Schtuff'  -  NBUS !

How brilliant is that?  I need to join this challenge loads - maybe even do a nbus stamp day, a nbus embossing folder day and so on - oh my I could fill a whole week with different items for a few years at least!  However, sadly I've just homed on the rules and it's an event that only happens twice a year - I'm gutted!!
Oh well onto my card and the schtuff used - LOL!  The digi is one from way back by Whimsie Doodles I think and it has been lurking on my computer hard drive unloved which as it's a real cutie this should not have happened.  I printed one image on to white card including the sentiment and also one image onto acetate so that I could overlay the cocktail glass part to give it a real feel.  The sheep was given a furry touch using some of that blow up white stuff that has also been in my stash sometime unused.  If you're wondering how the acetate is being held in place the glass has a slot in the top so the sheep is holding the top in place and the decoupaged cherries are hiding the attachment at the bottom.  The acetate is also folded around the original piece of printed card to hold it in place.

Using Snippets...

I love the challenge at Pixie's Snippets Playground but don't always get chance to join in, but this week I pulled a strip of green glitter foam out of my oddments box and actually used it.  I saw a card on Pinterest where the crafter had done a card with a star punched out of plain card and then patterned paper placed behind the apperture.  I used a bauble die instead and actually managed to make three cards from my tiny snippet of green.  Halo is glowing here!
I'm not very good at batch making - forgot to attach the ribbon to card no. three before sticking the card down so added a line of gems instead.  All was not lost!  Here's another view of the first one made...

An Owl Notebook...

as a little extra gift for my dear friend who loves anything with an owl theme so creating this for her fell in very nicely with our latest challenge at My Time to Craft.
Yes this challenge fortnight sees us looking at owls and hopefully some wonderful owl inspired projects.  I do hope you will dig out your stamps - digis - anything you can find and show us your projects and do check out what my team mates have created.  They are a very talented bunch and none of them have paid me to say that - honest!

For my notebook I used a digi available at Sweet Pea Stamps - it was super easy and very relaxing to colour using my Promarkers.  I love the swirls on the tree and the details on the feathers - very Zentangle without having to do it yourself.

A little gift...

for my daughter's new kitchen.  I bought these glass drink mats ages ago with the idea of altering them or maybe adding a photo as they are meant to be used.  This week I decided to create something very quick and easy, but also a perfect match for my daughter's very shiny black, white and silver themed kitchen.  Using black and silver snippets from my scrap box I cut the size of black card to slot in the back of the mat and then added a silver heart die cut.  Bish bash bosh as my friend Max would say job done in a very short time and my daughter was over the moon with them.

Our latest challenge at My Time to Craft is flowers as the main image and focal point on your project. How easy is that?  I do hope we see loads of stunning creations.  My card is yet another Christmas creation.  I seem to be well ahead with my Christmas cards this year - very strange - it's looking like Christmas will be a breeze this time providing I remember where I have stashed the cards!

Fairy Dust is settling everywhere...

but especially at Aud Sentiments as our ongoing challenge is all about using a fairy image and of course the essential sentiment.
I'm not feeling too well today so I'm going to make this post really short.  My image is Christmas Bird by Elaine Cox and is available from Sweet Pea Stamps alongside a whole website full of amazing images.  I am addicted to the stuff there.
Image matted on to doily cut out of silver vinyl on my Silhouette machine - something new and scary that I've just done for the very first time.  As you can see in the photo I've then mounted this onto black and then an embossed layer of silver mirri.

A special Wedding Day card...

One of my daughter's work mates wanted me to make an extra special wedding day card - boxed and super sized.  This is what I came up with.  Thankfully she was blown away by it so maybe it was worth all the stress.

I wanted to use this gorgeous rose foiled acetate by Hunky Dory on the card, but due to the positioning of the design I had to do the card larger than my norm otherwise I would have had to trim off too much of the design - the card is about 8.5" by 8.5" - so pretty big!

The main image is a stamp by Stampendous bought years ago for an extortionate amount (£13), but seeing as I still love it probably well worth the amount spent.  I stamped the image onto white card and then used Promarkers to colour the suit and flowers.  I stamped the dress part onto vellum and embossed with silver embossing powder and then cut out and layered onto the main image.

The sentiment was computer generated and then layered onto  a die cut.

My Time to Craft...

I've done loads of crafting over the last few weeks, but not had much time for actually blogging the things I've made.  However, today I'm showing my super quick make for our new challenge at My Time to Craft.  Actually making one was quick, but I now have a whole host of them to finish ready for our Christmas get together.  Knowing me I'll be making the rest of the set on Christmas Day morning or Tony will be the only one to get a place card.  No seriously I will finish the set and blog them to prove it.
Our new challenge is to create an easel card.  Luckily I remembered that I'd seen some amazing free cut files at Bird's Cards.  She does the most fabulous designs and allows people to use them for free - how amazingly kind is that?
I cut the base card in white and then used blue mirri card for accents - fastened it all together - added a name card and bish, bash, bosh job done.

Cat mail...

oh my it's week two at Aud Sentiments and my chance to show case my card made with this stunning digi from Stitchy Bear called Cat Mail.  Our present challenge is a great and very easy to use sketch- do give it a try. 
I love Sihouettes especially when printed on acetate and laid over some shaded glitter card that I've had in my stash for quite a long time.  Originally from Kanban, but I don't think they sell it now.  I've also sneaked a doily onto the card.  Since I found a whole drawer full of these gems in my stash I have really gone to town with them.

Sketch Saturday on a Tuesday...

It's ages since I followed a sketch and I really don't know why as I love working with them.  For this card I used the brilliant sketch at the Sketch Saturday Challenge to make a card for a friend.  The papers and central image are all from a CD by Katie Sue designs called Fabulous Shoes.  All very whimsical and fun images.

Recipe for fun...

Wow our latest challenge at My Time to Craft really had me putting my thinking cap on - a recipe challenge!  Use two images - one die cut and three flowers - hmm sounds easy enough, but some of us have to make it more tricky than it really needs to be.
I decided to do an Accordion card and used a cutting file just released by Tina Fallon at her Silhouette Cutting Files Store.  If you do visit you'll see that there are some gorgeous files and it's pretty easy to get lost amongst all the yummy stuff so click on 'cards' and you should be led to the cut file for accordian cards.
Using the accordion style of card made it easy to use two images especially as these gorgeous Penny Black hedgies complimented each other so well.  The middle section contains my one die cut swirl and three punched flowers each with a gem stone in the centre.
I did plain edges on the accordion as I wanted the focus to be on the images, but the cutting file actually includes some fabulous border cuts too.

Snippet card...

Sometimes when I cut things out on my Silhouette machine the bits left on the mat look just too good to waste.  This week I had a light bulb moment - they don't happen often in my case so you have to make the most of them.  
Using some sticky backed plastic from my teaching days I stuck the clear sticky stuff on top of the bits left on the mat and then very carefully peeled the sheet back with the design stuck to it.  To cut round the design I put it back on the holder sheet.
At this point I was thinking I would just stick the design down on card but the sticky in the gaps wasn't as clear as I thought it would be so I added fine glitter rubbing it on the sticky part between the design really well.  Then I sprayed the back of the piece with Stick and Stay and stuck it down on white card.  A stamped sentiment, some mat and layering and the addition of a sticker and my card is done.
Hey presto the waste bits become usable and another Halloween card is ready to send if I can remember where I stashed it when October rolls around.  Scroll down to see the original cut out piece on a card or click here.
