Happy Birthday Tony...

Yeah - it's Shelley's boyfriend's birthday and here's the card I made for Shelley to send him.

I bought the clear set of 'rock' themed stamps by Inkadinkadoo about 2 months ago special for the occasion, but guess when I started the card - yep yesterday!! Why can't I be more organised?

Ah well knowing me if I had made it early I would have put it in a safe place and wouldn't be able to find it anyway!

The guitar image - how cool is that - was stamped onto acetate and then attached to silver mirri card using brads. I added some gems to 'bling' it up a bit - why should men always have such flat cards? With the 'You Rock' sentiment I stamped straight on to the silver. The stars were cut on my cricut and embellished with silver star brads.

The black with silver birthday sentiments is by Kanban and I'm not entirely happy with it as I would have preferred something more funky to go with the theme, but it was the best I could do in my mad scramble.

Paper Play Challenges - favourite embellishments (the new glitter border peel offs by Papermania are just gorgeous and clear gems are always on my cards somewhere).

You're a hoot...

Three Wise Owls in an old elm tree - well okay perhaps only two wise ones!

If it were me and my friends being the owls I think the upside down dippy one might be me, but then again it might be Max! You never know - oh my goodness she will kill me when she reads this!

Materials used:

• gold mirri card and plain brown card
• stamp set 'Upside Down Hoot' by Joanna Sheen
• leafy tree background from Hoot backing paper pad also by Joanna Sheen
• patterned paper DCWV
• brads and peel offs from stash

I think my card is also ideal for the very first challenge at Crafty Calendar Challenges where the theme for this month is Autumn.

When Santa got stuck up the chimney!!

Well yesterday's card saw Messy Rabbit with his reindeer suit on getting in a tangle with his Christmas lights. Today sees him getting into more sticky (or perhaps I should say sooty) situations in his Santa suit.

This is a large 8" x 8" card - it had to be to get the chimney big enough to be able to slide the Messy Santa inside.























I drew the template for the chimney and rooftop myself and just played around wasting card like crazy until I got it looking right!

I made the brick pattern on the chimney and wall part using my Scor-pal.

The snow scalloped edge was cut on my Cricut and then I added the stamped lights one by one. Yep, this card took ages - fun though!

The lights, 'Ho ho ho' sentiment and Messy himself are all part of the Messy Rabbit Christmas set. I used my Promarkers to colour Messy and the other stamped elements.

My card is for the challenge at Creative Card Crew where this week they are focussing on cards for babies or children.

Finger prints on acetate cards....

Acetate can look really messy if you get finger prints and smudges on it when making the card and quite a few friends have asked how I manage to keep mine so clean. Well don't look too closely, but to be truthful I clean the card after it's finished.

If I place a peel off in the wrong place and it leaves a sticky residue when moved I use Sticky Stuff remover by Betterware, but I think Lakeland sell something similar to clean the area. You have to be really careful obviously not to get it on the card stock, but with care you can a get a really good smear free finish.

If it's just finger prints on the acetate I use a dry or almost dry cloth (from the Sticky Stuff remover) to buff the card up.

Clearly Christmas Fun...

Here comes Messy Rabbit again and this time he's in a bit of a mess with his Christmas tree lights - well that's what comes of dressing up as a reindeer to put the trimmings up!

This is one of my favourites from the Joanna Sheen Christmas Messy Rabbit stamps. I just think the look on Messy's face says it all and I love the way the extra stamps on the sheet are so useful. There is a strand of lights which I have used on the card inner and a single bulb too.




Inside the card I've also used a sentiment clear stamp from my stash and I can't for the life of me remember who it is by, but it seemed perfect to go with the theme of the card.

Yeah Monday and it's The Pink Elephant Day!

This week, at The Pink Elephant, we have a sketch by the incredibly talented Lori. Wow this one was a super cool one to follow.

I decided to use my free digi from MFT that Kim very kindly gave everyone the chance to pick up over the weekend. MFT stamps are definitely one of 'My Favourite Things' so I was over the moon with this offer. Thank you so much Kim.

In Kim's words the only catch with the free digi was that they would ...

"like you to send a card made with your new stamp to someone you know that needs a lift. A friend who's blue, a charity organization you support, whatever makes you happy."

Hmmm, what a great idea. I've made my 'shoppers' card to cheer up a friend, who I know is feeling the 'winter's coming' blues. Inside the card I've added a 'Let's go shopping and cheer ourselves up' message. I know the card will brighten her day and we'll both have a lovely shopping trip to look forward to. Yeah two people cheered up in one go!!
