A gift for a friend...

The challenge this week at http://pennybfriendssaturdaychallenge.blogspot.com/ was to make a gift for a friend. A little while back I bought some vellum envelopes containing rose petals to put in the bath - I had the idea that I could remove the shop label and make one of my own to personalise the gift.
Like lots of thing I didn't get round to doing it till now. Love the way 'challenges' spur you on to do things that you intended to but never got round to. I used a cute Penny Black stamp for the central image and some lovely clear border stamps to create the borders. All the images were coloured using water colour pencils. I added some orange stickles to the flower centres and the bee. The tag is stamped using a Studio G stamp.

Dutch Dare - stamp something...

The challenge this week on the new challenge site at http://www.dutchdare-cardchallenges.blogspot.com/ is to stamp something and it has to be the main image on your card.
On my card the main image is the vintage car which was stamped on to vellum using a mixed colour Brilliance ink pad and then attached with brads to gold card and matted and layed on to the main background paper. This is a vintage paper that came in a set from QVC a little while back. I've added a tag and a 'Happy Birthday' peel off to finish the card.
My card also fits our challenge at Ooh-la-la-Creations which is 'Remember when...' - do join in with this if you have chance. We would love to see your creations.

Remember when...

Our challenge starting today at http://ooh-la-la-creationschallenges.blogspot.com/ is to be creative using the theme of 'Remember when'.
I wanted to create something using the section of Wendi's CD called 'Quick Cards' partly because there are some really gorgeous virtually ready made cards in there and partly because I knew the challenge on http://www.daringcardmakers.blogspot.com/ was to create a quick card. I am not a fast card maker at all and when I saw the instructions on Daring Card Makers to make a card in 30 minutes I knew I would really struggle.
However, I did it (well I did if you don't count having to go out and buy a new printer cartridge because your printer thinks purple is the new black!). My card was completed in 25 minutes including putting the kettle on for a cuppa to celebrate.
I could have printed the complete picture out and attached it to a card without adding anything at all, but I really felt that I wanted to do a little bit to personalise the card in the time allowed. I decided to print the central image out again so that it could be matt and layered on to black and attached to the card using foam pads to make it stand out a little. Then I added 3 small square brads to bottom right corner to add depth and a black peel off 'Just to say...' to finish the card.

A Hint of Pink...

The challenge at http://artygirlzchallengeblog.blogspot.com/ is use black and white with a hint of pink. A perfect chance to use my other silhouette stamp and the bits left from cutting the diagonals for the other card I made.
I love the way the diagonal pieces have made a frame around the central image - a happy accident! On the other card the lines led the eye in which I also liked, but this time the frame seems to work really well.
To bring the hint of pink I have added pink gems to the flowers on the girls hat - introduced a fine border of pink around the central image and added a pink bow. This is my favourite of the two silhouette cards I have made this weekend.
The card is also perfect yet again for the challenge at http://themethursday.wordpress.com/ which is 'hat's'.

Thank you so much to great friends who have become followers of my blog. Love having you around.
