It's still snowing...

As promised snow globe number two. This time I used Diamond Dust for the snow inside the snow globe. Oh this product is just amazing - it really sparkles (which you can't see in the photo) and moves so well when you shake the globe. Just perfect and it also makes a very satisfying swishing sound too as an added bonus.

Sorry about the reflection on the photo above. The one below seems to be at a strange angle, but at least you can see Messy in his baggy jumper better. I think this particular stamp has to be my all time favourite Messy Rabbit stamp even though I love them all. The scene behind him is another page from the White Christmas backing paper pad.

I am hoping my card will qualify for the challenge at Fab's Big Christmas Cards Challenge where this week the theme is a cosy Christmas scene or looking in through a window. Well I think Messy may qualify for the 'cosy' part of the challenge with that Christmas jumper and also snow globes are a kind of window.

Well that's my story anyway and I'm sticking to it!!

It's snowing...

I've always been fascinated by snowglobes. I don't think there can be many (even grown ups) able to resist shaking them and watching the snow fall. When I saw the snow globe on one of my Cricut cartridges I just couldn't resist trying it out.

I cut the globe at 6" on a sheet of A4 card ensuring that their was enough space around it to make a border as in this case it's the negative part of the cut out that you use and not the actual snowglobe shape.

After cutting out I attached the silver base scored in places to match the curves on the globe to the back of the globe and also attached the acetate. The scene in the snowglobe is Messy Rabbit in his Santa suit. Check out his expression - definitely a 'Oh no it's snowing really heavily and I haven't even packed the sleigh yet!'

Inside the globe I used Polar white flower soft and a touch of glitter to give a lovely snowy day effect. It looks like the snow spoils the image in the photo, but actually in real life it's a lovely glittery effect. However, I've now found something much better for creating snow - watch this space for tomorrow's almost finished card.

This week the challenge at Allsorts Challenges is snowflakes so I think my snowglobe with it's flurry of snowflakes will fit nicely.

Christmas Bauble...

Here comes Messy Rabbit yet again - this time he's making an appearance in the middle of a Christmas wreath. No wonder he looks a bit worried - who wouldn't be in the middle of all that foliage?

For this large 8" x 8" card I decided to show case the stamped image of Messy and wreath on a Christmas bauble shape cut on my Cricut. The bauble is from the Christmas Cheer cartridge and was cut at 6" and then matted on to a gold mirri card circle.

The lovely bauble paper is one from a Dovecraft collection (I think )of papers that I bought last year and it does provide a pretty good background for the bauble - well I think so.

My card is for the challenges at ...

Paper play - where this week the theme is 'tag it' - I love tags and like to use two at a time as I have done at the top of my bauble.
Stamp Something - with the theme of favourite papers or colours. This is a toughie, but for Christmas I think red, green and gold has got to be one of my favourite combinations and as Dovecraft papers are so affordable they are one of my favourites too.
Pile it on - punches - my tags are both punched

Hidden Treasure...

The challenges at Cute Card Thursday are always such fun and interesting ones and this week is no exception. The theme is 'Hidden Treasure'. On my card the hidden treasure is the little recipe booklet for Messy Rabbit's special carrot Christmas pudding!

It is a real recipe and I am (she says hopefully) going to try it out soon. I love carrot cake so maybe carrot pudding is yummy too.

I found the recipe by googling - oh what did we do before the world wide web? Google worked it's magic and led to the Carrot Museum - you must take a look at this. It's amazing. I never realised that carrots had such a big role to play in Christmas decorations. I've always left one out for Rudolf, but I never covered the tree full of them for him!


I coloured Messy using Promarkers. The base card is a beautiful shimmery green from my favourite market stall and the holly paper I'm not sure of the maker, but it maybe a Dovecraft one. Thank you for looking and leaving such amazing comments about my cards. I do appreciate each and everyone of them.

Pink Elephant Day...

This week at The Pink Elephant it's time for one of Robin's amazing sketches. Sketch week is definitely my favourite of our challenges as Robin's designs are alway such a breeze to work with.

I decided to use the sketch to make a new baby card. Several of Laura's colleagues at work are having babies and one of them is definitely a girl so this should fit the bill nicely.

The pram is a stamp by a company called 'Impressions' - I think - it was in one of my bargainous ebay job lots and the name on the wood is quite faded, but it still stamps beautifully so no worries. I decided to do some paper piecing on the image and give my Promarkers a well earned rest on this one. I think the design is one that suits itself to paper piecing and it was fun to do.

The papers and card are from Kanban and the glitzy heart, gems and ribbon are from my stash. Do pop over to The Pink Elephant to see what my team mates have created and hope you have time to play along with us too.
