Happy Birthday Laura...

Yeah my little girl is 25 today!!! Now making this 8" x 8" birthday card was a little worrying as Laura wanted an 'Alice in Wonderland' card and Alice wears blue not PINK!  As my friends already know usually when making anything for Laura it has to be PINK so the birthday theme for this year was a bit risky to say the least!   I even considered changing Alice's clothes, but decided against as she just wouldn't have been Alice in any other colour but blue.
My Alice image is a digi purchase from Mo Manning and was coloured using Promarkers.  Love Mo's work - so many gorgeous images by one super talented artist - yikes!!
The sketch I used is this week's challenge at Truly Scrumptious.  An amazing sketch with the added option of putting a hidden message on the tag...

As you can see I used a rub on by Letraset to add a sentiment to the partially hidden tag.  Laura loved it when she opened her card this morning.  She also loved the card sent by my dear friend Irene (hers was pink) and would you believe it from all the sketches in blogland Irene had chosen exactly the same one!  How weird is that?  I can only think that Irene and I have the same impeccable taste!  Irene's card will be on her blog soon - don't miss it - it's a fantastic card!
My card is also for the following challenges...
Have a great day everyone.  I will be posting again later as I really must get my card on here that I've made in support of Emma's Charity Challenge at  Crafty Emma.  If you haven't seen/joined in this yet please do.  Such a worthwhile cause and thanks to Paula at Pollycraft you can buy a fantastic digi to help raise funds.

Bah! Humbug! Challenge 5...

Five weeks - five challenges - five Christmas cards already done for next year - wow I can't believe I am going to be so organised come Christmas time.  I may even get chance to do one of those fabulous Advent Calendars using match boxes.  I wanted to do one last year, but was so busy trying to get my cards done that I only got as far as buying the match boxes.
This week at Bah! Humbug! we are featuring ...
HOLLY
and quite a few people who took a look at my Sneak Peek photo yesterday guessed correctly.  Up to writing this post Jose, Ann (again! has she got a crystal ball?) and Beryl had all guessed the challenge may be holly.  Well done you three.
For my holly card I decided to use the fabulous Holly Fairy digi image by Mo Manning and after toying with the idea of doing a side step card I had a complete change of heart and decided to do my very first easel card.  Very brave of me really, especially as I couldn't be bothered to look at any of the online instructions and just made it up as I went along.  There was a stage when I thought it was going to end up in the bin, but eventually my card survived for the challenge.

This the card closed up showing the Holly Fairy matted on red, gold and green card.  The holly paper is one from my stash that I've had quite a while so I'm not sure of the make.  I put a couple of gold border peel offs around the edge of the red card to draw the eyes into the image.  I used Promarkers, Sakura stardust and a touch of ultrafine glitter to colour Holly.
The sentiment is from a clear stamp set by Stampendous.  One that I've had for quite some time and suddenly realised how lovely and useful it is.  The scrolls were cut using a cuttlebug die and both the sentiment and scrolls were attached to the card using foam tape to ensure they make a secure holder for the easel part of the card.
Do pop over to Bah! Humbug! to check out Max and Irene's designs too and hopefully you'll find time to join us again this week.  Don't forget it's the first challenge of the month so we have a lovely paper collection of offer to one lucky person.
Whoops forgot to say my card is also for the challenges at...
Good Luck everyone and have a fantastic weekend.

Holly Fairy in Pink...

A card for the girl who says 'Everything looks better in Pink' - yep this is for Laura. I had done her a pink snowflake creation, but she saw a card from a friend (yes you Chrissie - it's your fault) with this image and said how much she loved it so what could I do? Yep I know too soft for my own good!!

The card is 8"x 8" as I wanted the larger size, but also the images by Mo Manning are so gorgeous it's a shame to print them in a small space. This fairy is one of my favourites, but to be truthful Mo's drawings are just all gorgeous.

The white layer is embossed with holly leaves to match the fairy who is touched with glitter (I mean magic dust ) everywhere.

My card is also for the challenges at:
My tip for the day is...

When transferring packs of cans of coke on to the belt at the supermarket checkout do not bump them. If you do and any of the cans have the slightest weak spot in the metal it will result in a explosion of coke and a 3 foot high fountain will appear and drench everyone within 6 feet.

The wettest person is likely to be either you or the poor defenceless girl on the till.

Believe me in this as I speak from experience!!! Yesterday was not the best shopping day I have ever had!

Thank you so much to great friends who have become followers of my blog. Love having you around.
