Remember when...

Our challenge starting today at http://ooh-la-la-creationschallenges.blogspot.com/ is to be creative using the theme of 'Remember when'.
I wanted to create something using the section of Wendi's CD called 'Quick Cards' partly because there are some really gorgeous virtually ready made cards in there and partly because I knew the challenge on http://www.daringcardmakers.blogspot.com/ was to create a quick card. I am not a fast card maker at all and when I saw the instructions on Daring Card Makers to make a card in 30 minutes I knew I would really struggle.
However, I did it (well I did if you don't count having to go out and buy a new printer cartridge because your printer thinks purple is the new black!). My card was completed in 25 minutes including putting the kettle on for a cuppa to celebrate.
I could have printed the complete picture out and attached it to a card without adding anything at all, but I really felt that I wanted to do a little bit to personalise the card in the time allowed. I decided to print the central image out again so that it could be matt and layered on to black and attached to the card using foam pads to make it stand out a little. Then I added 3 small square brads to bottom right corner to add depth and a black peel off 'Just to say...' to finish the card.

A Hint of Pink...

The challenge at http://artygirlzchallengeblog.blogspot.com/ is use black and white with a hint of pink. A perfect chance to use my other silhouette stamp and the bits left from cutting the diagonals for the other card I made.
I love the way the diagonal pieces have made a frame around the central image - a happy accident! On the other card the lines led the eye in which I also liked, but this time the frame seems to work really well.
To bring the hint of pink I have added pink gems to the flowers on the girls hat - introduced a fine border of pink around the central image and added a pink bow. This is my favourite of the two silhouette cards I have made this weekend.
The card is also perfect yet again for the challenge at http://themethursday.wordpress.com/ which is 'hat's'.

Ebony and Ivory...

Well black and white anyway! The challenge on http://pinkleart.blogspot.com/search/label/The%20Sunday%20Stampers is to use black and white to create a card, ATC or any other creative work. I always love working in black and white and took this chance to use one of a set of two silhouette stamps I bought recently from a seller on ebay. Love ebay and especially love it when you get a great surprise extra with your purchase. I had actually bought 3 sets of clear stamps from this lady but she must have decided to have a really good clear out as she put two lady's head silhouette clear stamps in as an extra. Bliss - I love both of them.

I've no idea what company they are made by but they are both really useful stamps to have. The one I used for this card lends itself to adding feathers to the hat and after adding the feather I couldn't help myself I just had to add a bit of bling too.

The background paper is from Kanban. I got the idea for the layout when I was trying to decide what to do with the stamped image. I was playing around and noticed the diagonal pattern on the back of a square envelope that happened to be on my craft table. I liked the way the paper made a cross on the back and decided to have a go at recreating the shape with patterned papers on my card. I used papers with the same design but a positive and negative image and am quite pleased with how it turned out.
This card is also suitable for the challenge at http://themethursday.wordpress.com/ which is on a theme of hats this week. Watch this space because more hats are on their way.

Thank you so much to great friends who have become followers of my blog. Love having you around.
