Fairies...

This acetate card with it's starry wrap is my contribution for the challenge at http://abc-challenge.blogspot.com/ where this week the theme is 'fairies'. The starry paper and vellum fairy are both from this month's Making Cards magazine.

I've made the card in the same way as yesterday's card but using a patterned paper in place of the embossed snowflakes. As before the inside of the card is also covered with the starry paper so that there are no nasty signs of DST. The fairy being made of vellum is double sided and is great for using in this way as the back looks as good as the front.

It was the theme at http://www.daringcardmakers.blogspot.com/ that first got me thinking about wraps around cards.

The challenge there is...

'It’s a Wrap
No, not the kind stuffed with Chicken & Cesar Salad or the woolly kind you put around your shoulders to keep you warm, mind you, the way our summer is going I think we could all do with one of those!I would like you to give your card a coat made of acetate, vellum or anything for that matter.As long as it ‘wraps’ around the outside of your card, anything goes!'

I suppose my cards are back to front as rather than the acetate being the wrap it actually makes up the main piece of the card but I'm sure that will be okay as the challenge does say 'anything goes'.

I've also just realised that I can enter this card for the challenge on the Joanna Sheen forum which this week is cards inspired by 'film titles'. My film title is 'FairyTale: A True Story'. My goodness ' a triple whammy'!!!

Cold as ice...

This is the challenge at http://magnoliachallengeblog.blogspot.com/. Having stayed at Irene's last weekend I have been converted into a cuttlebug fanatic and wanted to use my cuttlebug snowflake folder for this challenge. I also wanted the snowflake effect to go completely around the card and decided to use an acetate base card and wrap the snowflakes around it.

The stamp is Tilda (with bird) but she always seems to end up holding something else!!

As you can see in this photo I attached the blue inner to the inside of the acetate so that a blue border was created on the front of the card, but also it meant that all DST was sandwiched between the two layers.

I will be putting a inner with a christmas verse in when I know who I am sending the card to.

The last photo shows the back of the card which I finished off to match the front.

Please excuse the photos - acetate cards are really hard to get pictures off without getting the reflection of the camera in the shot.

And also excuse the layout the more I try to get the photos in the correct position the more wappy the blog posting becomes!!

Whoops Tilda has brown hair and shoes - oh well perhaps nobody will notice!

I'm back...

and have had the best time ever - Sunderland is brilliant - and especially so when staying with a good friend.

I haven't made this card today - it's one I made before I went away as I knew our challenge at http://ooh-la-la-creationschallenges.blogspot.com/ was going to be Christmas this week. I hope that everyone who wants to get a head start on their Christmas cards will join in and leave a message on our challenge blog so that we can look at everyone's stunning work.

I made this card using one of the images from Ooh-la-la-Creation's new CD which is crammed full of really stunning silhouette images. Silhouettes are one of my favourite type of image. I love Joanna Sheen's Dancing With Shadows CD - I love silhouette stamps and I love this CD. There are just so many possibilities when using silhouettes.
