Bah! Humbug Day ... Embossing

Wow Friday again! Can't believe how quickly these weeks go by and also how wonderfully the pile of Christmas cards is growing, especially as for this week's challenge of 'embossing' I have 3 cards to share!  Think it was such a joy to have a whole day off work that I got quite carried away with my self.
My first card features some embossing using a Cuttlebug Christmas folder in my Wizard machine.  The Christmas paper and sentiment are from a brilliant bargain magazine I picked up at the NEC.

Card number two uses the same folder and again Core'rdinations cardstock and a sanding block to make the trees pop.  However, this time I decided to use a green Sakura Glaze pen to add colour to the trees. Then before the glaze was completely dry I added glitter too.  The glitter card the image is mounted on and the ribbon were both coloured with Promarker pens.

Card number three is totally different and was so much fun to make except for the glitter that seemed to get everywhere.  To create this card I used a Dreamweaver brass star stencil and embossing paste.  I saw this demoed at the NEC and although I have done this technique in the past I had forgotten how much fun and how effective it can be.  In real life the glitter is really stunning - honest!
After a whole week of not having chance to enter any challenges my cards, as well as being for the Bah! Humbug! challenge, are also for...
Have a fabulous Easter weekend everyone and see you on Monday for the new Pink Elephant Challenge.

Yeah The Pink Elephant Day...

This week at The Pink Elephant our Spotlight Company is The Cutting Cafe and the design team were really lucky to be given some super cute images by the owner Regina Easter.  If you haven't spotted The Cutting Cafe before do pop over and take a look.  The whole site is full of inspiration and some amazing designs.
Due to a really long and difficult shift at work and being ill myself I haven't had time to do an all dancing and singing creation.  However, I think this is where digi images and printables really come into their own as you can play for ages and do a fantastically artistic creation or some thing quick and easy as I have done today.
I got the idea for my paper clip bookmarks from Vicki at Blue Jelly Too.  She sent me some wonderful blog candy and two fabulous handmade book marks, which were the initial inspiration for my versions.  I used one of the rabbit images from The Cutting Cafe Easter Set and printed a sheet of the bunnies in many different pastel shades.
Then using the smallest of the Nellie Snellen circle dies and using masking tape to ensure the image was central I cut the circular flowers.  Matching circles were cut and the paperclip was then sandwiched between the two flowers with Pinflair glue.
So quick and super easy to make and yet great fund raisers - I hope!  My daughter has already put in an order for some for the Nursing Home she works at and I'm going to make some to sell in aid of Mencap.
I have a feeling the rest of The Pink Elephant team will have done some really amazing stuff so do take a look at their creations and watch out for something really exciting happening at TPE on April 1st!!!
FAO  Carole...
I placed the Nellie Snellen die over the image so that the rabbit and sentiment were central.  As the sentiment is quite close to the actual cut edge I used masking tape (the sort that Barbara Gray recommends as that does not tear the paper on removal) to hold the die securely.  I do find that sometimes dies slip in my Wizard.  Not sure whether this applies to other machines or not.

Thank you so much to great friends who have become followers of my blog. Love having you around.
