Still celebrating...

This is the card I did for my mum to send Laura.  A really simple card to do - well you leave it till the day before to make the cards quick and simple is definitely the only way to go.
I got the idea for this card when scrolling through Pinterest and planned the design using Serif Craft Artist.  I've found that you can plan the printed part on Craft Artist and then copy and paste to the Silhouette screen to plan the cut out parts in this case the numbers.

I actually used odd bits of card from my bits box to do this and the hardest part was calculating how to get the numbers on the small piece of card on my mat avoiding the flowers that had already been punched out for a previous project!

Happy Birthday Laura...

Oh my 30 today - yikes!!
So hard to get a good photo when using mirri card, but this shot of my card for Laura is not too bad.  I used a cutting file bought recently from the Silhouette store cut it out of gorgeous purple (not blue in real life) mirri and matted it on to a printed sheet of acetate.  Then I attached the acetate to silver mirri card using gem brads.
Another layer of purple and then all matted onto a black scalloped edged card.  Load of gems added and a black organza ribbon to finish.

Well off to create some party food now.  Have a great day whatever you are up to.

Magical Christmas...

This week at Aud Sentiments our challenge is 'Things with Wings' alongside the all important sentiment.  We are being sponsored by Paper Shelter and were lucky enough to be given a beautiful image called Hope to work with.
For my project I printed a sentiment and the image of Hope on acetate and then laid that over the top of the accompanying backing paper.  As the image on acetate is slightly raised I think it gives a very ethereal quality.  Sadly it doesn't show up well in the photo even though I tried several shots at many angles.  Please believe me that in real life the effect works well.  Honest!!!
Here's a close up of the beautiful image...

Materials...

  • Hope image and backing paper by Paper Shelter
  • Purple 'blotchy' card from stash
  • silver mirri
  • white base card
