New Home...

Well just over a week ago my youngest daughter announced that she was going to get a flat with her boyfriend. This was Friday and by Monday they had the keys. By Tuesday my dippy little girl who can't make out of the door without forgetting something and having to come back was gone.

I take back every single word I've ever said about wishing one of them would move out so I could have a craft room - whoops somethings just splashed on the keyboard! I'm missing her so much - I'm even missing the constant sink full of pots she used to make - sigh!

Lots of my friends have sent her lovely new home cards so I thought I better get into action and do one too. This is one to send from me and my mum (who has taken it even worse that me and keeps bursting into tears and saying 'She will be alright won't she?).

The images I've used are from a set by PC Crafter and I've played around with them in Serif to get the sizes and shapes just right to make one of those acetate concertina cards I was shown at the Sheena Douglas workshop.

Think this photo shows the layers better...

I knew I would use this style of card again and again. I thought the image of the girl pulling her possessions on a little truck was so apt for Shelley and the pick up truck with the stuff piled high with oddments reminds me of Tony's dad's car when he delivered some things for them.

Materials used:
  • acetate
  • ice gold card
  • Heart and Home clipart collection from PC Crafter
  • gold border and sentiment peel offs
Challenges:
Thanks for looking and for all the lovely comments I receive - they really do make my day.

Fabulous card, just love it to bits!
Oh Ann, I know, isn't it hard?
Both my boys have flown now (the last one about 5 years ago) and I still miss them both! I do enjoy their weekly visits though.

Your card is gorgeous Ann, I do love your acetate cards. I'm sure Shelley & Tony will be fine in their new home, and you can rest assured she will be back a forth quite regularly. While mine were all living on the island and left home they were forever under my feet, and two of them even came back home to live a couple of times.

Gorgeous unusual card Ann. So much detail in it, I'm sure your "little" girl will be thrilled. It is hard to let them go, especially daughters (so I've been told). When Dale got married I nearly put the flags out but when Neal got married I sat on his bedroom floor and bawled my head off. It does get better in time especially if you get one of the bedrooms as a craft room :-). Just joking. As long as they are happy, which I'm sure they will be, that's that main thing - she will always be YOUR little girl.

love and best wishes to them both

Awww - this is perfect Ann and it is hard on you to start with but it will get easier with time and it is what you've been working towards as a Mother, so pat yourself on the back for a job well done and enjoy your visits with and from Shelly and Tony.

Fabulous card Ann and I'm sure Shelley and Tony will treasure it.It must be hard for you having your youngest set up home elsewhere (too long ago for me to remember I'm afraid) but you know she'll be back to visit - often.
